Sharon Coleman came to the Piecemakers Quilt Guild from the cold, snowy North. She brought her incredible quilts, her incredible talents and her sunny disposition with her.
Sharon taught us, learned with us, worked hard with us and for us and, was a great cook who often shared that skill with us also.
She served in several offices -- she was past president and current treasurer. She was also our cheerleader and a good friend to everyone in our guild. She radiated her love of life and quilting and has left a void in our midst.
We will not hold to our grief for Sharon however. She would have been very impatient with that and urged us to get busy on our next "Block of the Month."
This page will be added to over the next few weeks - hopefully, more pictures and more information about her life and her quilts.
She was our friend and our teacher. We will miss her greatly.

We would love to share your memories and photos of Sharon. The following link will send your thoughts, photos, etc. to our webmaster, who will add them here.
It’s been two months since my sister Sharon died, and I feel the loss every day. I see the quilts in my home that she’s made for me, and my family. I feel joy, because each one is unique, beautiful, and sadness because she is gone. She left us a lasting memorial, which we all treasure, (especially me.) Last year, when Sharon and I were in South Dakota visiting our brother Terry, we visited some of their quilt shops. In our travels together if she saw a quilt shop we had to stop! I felt as if I should have one of those signs that say “I brake for quilt shops.” I loved it even though I was not a quilter myself. Anyways, while there they had a beautiful quilt on display, and I said how much I liked it. Sharon had said, “Oh I could make that for you.” Right then and there we started picking out material. That’s how Sharon was, always willing and happy to share her talent, and time. When she became ill, she was working on that quilt. She had gotten quite a bit of it together, but there was a lot more to do, and not being a quilter I was not sure what I should do. Well, Sharon’s wonderful friends from the quilting club “Piecemakers of Oxford” were at her memorial service, and when I mentioned to them my predicament they volunteered to finish it for me. They said they would be honored to do it for Sharon! I was so touched by their generous offer, and very grateful. She always told me how much she enjoyed the club, and nice and enjoyable the people were. I found that out for myself firsthand experience. I could go on and on with many stories about my sister, but anyone who knew her will remember other stories about her. I’m hoping others will add to this, and share their stories! Jen Newman
